GREAT IDEA, MET!
I never got the overstimulated ovaries and four weeks later pregnant. Nor did I get the doctor change. He was successful with the twins correct.
Never understood who approached whom about the show idea.
Never understood a word about Kate’s family, him being a minister surely would have a forgiving spirit, right?
Totally lost about Jons’ employment, or lack therof.
Totally lost why mine and others search for truth is an attack on these people but more aggresive measures used by others to honor them are acceptable.
Lost to why a group of people (not here) keep looking at others blogs if they feel the other people are not being fair to the Gosselins. They then tell those people if you do not like the show do not watch, I say if you do not like comments elsewhere do not search em out to read em hehe. Touche right?
Lost why anyone can help but to feel this woman in CA was expecting the fanfair J&K got at the risk of 8 young lives.
Maybe just my question does right to life only apply to abortion, what about fertility treatments.
Moon and everyone I wanted to clarify my last sentence. It is rather common for these fertility treatments to produce multiples it seems. Then they suggest “selective reduction” when they have more than expected. Maybe just to me the ethics of playing doctor and God to create life then God when the results are not what they expected, could lead to other mind sets.
I also wonder if J&K consider Amish markets to be organics. I think organic labeling is a FDA term correct? Here where I am we have limited access to them for some reason. A large farmers market but limited products “organic” as termed.
Jon’s interview in Utah he states, “We don’t allow the kids to do publicity appearances . . . unless it’s Oprah, Ellen, Martha . . .”
Then this week we saw those kids on not less then 5 interviews. “We won’t make them go on camera unless they want to.”
Mady whining.
One boy “wants to go home.”
My favorite Jon quote, “I don’t lie, normally”
The biggest lie of all, her quote to LKL the other nite that they had no help with the kids after the 1st year, I call bullshit on that one.
Myth: Kate is super organized.
Reality: Kate is no more organized than anyone else.
She forgets things and makes Jon run back into house for them. Episodes show us piles of papers on counters, piles of clothes in baskets, toys everywhere and a mother who ignores the kids to arrange shoes.
Kate forgets snacks so the kids have “blood sugar” problems. Forgets coats so the twins are cold on vacation and wear their father’s outsize jacket and sweatshirt.
Does not bring playclothes so a child can play with markers or frosting or anything, to allow them a free and stress-free time.
I do not care one bit if she does these things. That’s her and her family’s problem.
I do care that she has managed to promote herself as uber-organized and the followers believe it, no matter what is actually shown on TV.
Myth: Kate is a clean freak, maybe OCD.
Reality: Kate is not.
No one who is a clean freak or OCD about cleaning (no real evidence there of a true disorder) leaves filled potties in their van so the contents slosh about and freeze.
No clean freak would leave said potties filled all day in many places about the house, to be emptied at the end of the day – not cleaned – emptied.
No clean freak would leave her own home a mess for anyone else to see or walk into, no matter how much drama she creates about the condition of her new home.
Making someone take off their shoes as they come in does not make you a clean freak, but it does make you controlling.
Giddy from the Heat~
Exactly. I never understood why people state that she is organized. Time taken to watch the show clearly reveals that she is woefully unorganized. Case in point was Monday’s show. She was just throwing items into boxes willy nilly not to mention her leaving garbage all over the place. A poster in one of my Cafe Mom groups who is a fan stated, “Well I do that too when I move. I then go and clean it all up after the boxes are out.”
OK, common sense would dictate that when one is moving that one has a number of trash/recycling receptacles in easy reach to discard what needs to be discarded. Most uber-organized people do not create more work for themselves, they minimize it.
Organized my ass.
Myth: We get to see a “real” relationship, warts and all
Reality: We see a couple too immature to act in a civil manner in front of the world, much less their children.
Kate speaks to Jon as if he is a child. Jon responds like a lumpy teenager, saying “yes, mom” as he slides away to hang out behind the garage. Neither seems to be able to stop themselves from behaving in roles they have cast as the “parents” on their own show. Kate is the mom and Jon is one of the kids.
It is one thing to have a stronger partner in a relationship. It is quite another to demean and belittle a partner in front of children and the world. What are they thinking? This is OK?
Do they ever learn and change, unless it is a behavior the producers or the manager thinks would benefit the bottom line?
The kids stand by and watch it all. Don’t think for one minute any of them are too young to see the dynamics of the relationship.
As you can see, I’ve been thinking too much about these people. I must go do something constructive now.
Giddy from the Heat aka Myth Buster~
Don’t stop now, you’re on a ROLL lol
You have so TOTALLY nailed KON to the wall.
Don’t forget the myth about them struggling in the beginning when they had a big fat inheritance and a home that had a large amount of equity and if Jon would have gone to work they would have had his pay check which brings up another myth that Jon lost his job related to insurance issues that the energy company he worked for demanded he retract the lie he was fired in the Reading Eagle. Darn I wish those archives were still on the net.
Just to add to the myth that Jon and Kate were doing it all by themselves after the first year: If you watch the segment on Larry King, while she is saying those words at that EXACT time they are showing shots of Nana Joan, Nana Janet, Beth…it was priceless! It was like a visual, “Oh really? Oh really? Alone huh?”
She’s a legend in her own mind….and that’s pretty sad!
Just to add to my last comment…I’m not saying that if you hire a babysitter or whatever you are completely dependent on other people, but what irks me is when Kate tries to give the impression that they do everything themselves without crediting those around them who made it happen. Nana Joan and Nana Janet: Babysitting, Carla: Babysitting, cleaning, putting clothes away, Bev: folding all the laundry, Beth: Babysitting, going with on vacations to wrangle kids, letting them use the house and yard for stuff, WRITING A BOOK for God’s sake…..Don’t even get me STARTED on Aunt Jodi.
Jen~
Not to mention the army of volunteers they had around the clock for at least the first year.
AND they have a caregiver 4-6 hours a day when the twins are in school all day, provided they aren’t being dragged to one more interview, and the tups are in pre-school three afternoons a week, then add in the filming for 3 days a week. So exactly what are these parents doing? They aren’t raising their kids
BohemianMoon~
No kidding….as a married mom of one, I have a feeling I’m putting in more “face time” with my kiddo than these two combined in an average day. But good thing Jon quit his job to be with the kids! That was a stellar move. At least this time he wasn’t fired, so that’s a modest improvement.
When two parents seemingly can’t keep a job between them, even before being bestowed with diapers, volunteers, cash and a reality show that’s a little red flag that they had an agenda from Day One. There is so much that doesn’t add up and I wish former friends/co-workers (small group, I know) and others would just stand up and reveal the truth about these frauds. There are honest, hardworking people lapping this crap up and buying books, videos, pictures and tickets to events and they’re being fed a load of garbage. It’s so obvious that something is up, and why some people can’t see that is astonishing!
Myth: The opportunity for the show came from above (or somewhere).
Reality: Kate “shopped” the show to TV.
The Gosselin-lovers like to say that the TV show just happened and wouldn’t anyone take advantage of an opportunity like that? I’m not going there right now, but no, I wouldn’t.
The truth has been told by Kate herself that she created a tape and sent it to networks, hoping that someone would bite on the “two sets of multiples” idea.
They did, and the first couple specials were, most agree, rather charming and interesting. Then, a weekly show was created and we are at the point we are now: manufactured trips and outings, product placement, kids with little privacy and no sense of a world without cameras and soundmen.
We see older kids who look miserable most of the time, acting out on camera. We see parents who spend more time with “things” than with kids.
We see teeth whitening and hair plugs, for God’s sake, for the parents, and what that has to do with the daily struggle Kate and Jon still like to talk about, I would like to know.
exercising at the gym and spa treatments Moon lol
2-3 hrs a day Jon says
Myth: The show allows “Kate the luxury of being a stay at home mother.”
Reality: Sister is out creating a career for herself as a spokesperson and talking head on TV.
What does it mean to be a SAHM? Do you, you know, actually stay at home and play with the kids? Be there when they get up and read to them before they go to bed?
Or does it mean you are at “home” while you work in your home office? While someone else cares for the kids, does the laundry and makes sure the homefires are burning.
Do not tell me the show allows the parents to stay at home with the kids when anyone can see they are out and about every other weekend or so. When Kate is in Chicago and LA and hither, thither and yon during the week. When Jon is in Utah and Kate is speaking somewhere and the kids are the ones at home. When they admit they put in long hours on interviews and prep and anything else that doesn’t inolve childcare.
Do not try and tell me they are home for the kiddies when they are busy creating a career, a brand. I have no argument with that and will even applaud them for showing more initiative than I thought they had, and wil say I am glad they are trying to do something that does not involve dragging the kids around.
But don’t disguise what you’re doing by pandering to the people who still believe it’s exhausting to raise eight, are so sure you’re tucking in those eight little faces every night, so sure that the Gosselin’s lives are parallel to their own, just a bit more glamorous and exciting.
Sheesh, sheeple. Get a clue.
MET -
You are right. She did say this during one of the couch confessionals.
“The truth has been told by Kate herself that she created a tape and sent it to networks, hoping that someone would bite on the “two sets of multiples” idea.”
Specifically, she said she sent the tapes to Bill Hayes, the owner, operator, and freak channel producer extraordinaire over at Figure8Films in Carboro, NC. She actually named him by name.
tired of lies,(#11) it still lives! someone on IMDb found the article and they posted the article. It has in there about Kate’s remark of the amount of equity in the original house and all the reason WHY the state of Pa should pay for the tups and WHY the KONs should not.

Yep and here it is for those that have not seen this:
By John Grogan
When Kate Gosselin finally picks up the phone on the 10th ring, she sounds a little frazzled, and who can blame her?
From the background come the cries, shrieks and whoops of babies. Six of them, to be exact.
The Berks County woman once feared she was unable to conceive. Today, thanks to fertility drugs, she has more children than she and her husband, Jonathan, know what to do with. Those would be twin 4-year-old girls followed by the sextuplets, who turned 1 on May 10.
Gosselin’s supercharged fertility is miraculous in its own right, a testament to the wonders – and pitfalls – of modern medicine. She has rocketed into the public spotlight, however, not for her baby-making prowess but for her insistence that she cannot mother alone.
The harried mom wants help – and she wants taxpayers to pick up the tab.
Because the fragile babies were born prematurely, Medicaid paid to provide a skilled home nurse 30 hours a week. But the babies are now robust, and Medicaid pulled the plug this month on paying for the nurse the Gosselins have come to rely on as “a second mommy.”
Special circumstances
The couple, who live in Wyomissing, have appealed that ruling, and on Thursday the mother will argue that her special circumstances – eight little ones and a husband who is gone 12 hours a day for his state-government job 90 minutes away in Harrisburg – merit taxpayer help. The state continues to pay for nurse Angie Krall while the appeal is pending.
“We did not ask for sextuplets. We wanted one last baby,” Gosselin tells me, quickly adding that she loves all six beyond words. “We took the risk and we lost.”
As you might imagine, her request has not gone over well. Angry letters have popped up in newspapers across Pennsylvania. Gosselin, a registered nurse, knew the risks of taking fertility drugs. Even after delivering twins on the first go-round, she rolled the dice again. And now she wants the state to pay for her gamble?
“People are very harsh to us, and I understand that,” she says. “But until you walk exactly in my shoes and know my day-to-day life, it is very difficult to imagine…”
I want to sympathize with her. Every parent knows how demanding and exhausting even one baby can be. But the more she talks, the more I find her to be inflexible.
I agree with her that she can’t do it alone, but I ask why she needs an expensive skilled nurse instead of a basic child-care helper. Her only explanation is that she and the children have bonded with their nurse, and she’d hate to change now. She concedes the children no longer require specialized nursing care, and adds, “On Jon’s income, we couldn’t afford to pay someone even $6 an hour.”
Paying for child care?
And that leads to another question. If money is so tight, why doesn’t she return to work and enroll the children in day care? Nope. The family minivan cannot carry all eight children in one trip, and the couple can’t afford a bigger van, she says. Besides, “I would be taking my paycheck and giving it to the day care.” Welcome to the world of working parents.
She says family members live too far away or are too busy to help, and the stream of volunteers that came in the early months compromised the family’s privacy. “There is no one,” she says definitively. “I have racked my brain.”
I have one other idea for her. The couple’s house has about $100,000 of equity in it, she has estimated. Why don’t they take out a loan to pay for the nurse themselves, just as parents do to pay for tuition or orthodontics? She doesn’t want to do that, either.
She promises she wants Medicaid to pay for the nurse for only one more year, and by then the couple will be able to handle their brood on their own.
Obviously, society has a vested interest in making sure these eight children – all children – are properly nurtured. The question is whether taxpayers should be expected to take on a couple’s burden. And if so, which couples, and for how long?
There are no easy answers, only an unsettling awareness that parenting, with all its joys and challenges, belongs ultimately to parents.
I wonder if he would be called a “hater”?
You know he would or that he works for a “rag” newspaper. They always have a good reason to excuse them. But this is from the Philly Inquirer
I have often wondered why the coffee maker had instructions on how Kate likes her coffee. Many said it was a note for Jon, others say it was instructions for the volunteers that made her coffee, took it to her, while she laid in bed and others watched her kids.
This is something that has always bothered me. From the Q and A section of their web site is the following response to a question about their fertility treatments.
“…we were truly unaware that there were 7 possible babies in there on the day that our procedure was done…or I can assure you, we would not have gone through with it!! (We were told that there were 3 with a possibility of 4 which was, by my doctor, considered excellent to proceed.”
From the article in post #21 above
“We did not ask for sextuplets. We wanted one last baby,” Gosselin tells me, quickly adding that she loves all six beyond words. “We took the risk and we lost.”
Maybe I’m just ignorant about fertility treatments (i.e. typically 4 eggs available will result in only one pregnancy – and I am happy to be corrected) but this sounds as though she was perfectly aware that HOM was a possibility. Maybe six instead of four was a shocker, but why would anyone proceed with the possibility of four if they only wanted just one more?
I remember reading that article a few months ago and thinking, “She knows her children are healthy, yet she would take away a nurse from a family who really needs it for their ill or disabled child just so it would be easier FOR HER.”
That’s when I made the turn and realized there was so much more to this family than I had realized. I needed only to know that ONE fact (and have since learned more) to realize that is one selfish woman.
Re: #24 and the coffee instructions. There was also a note for “lunch giver” which would imply it was a general note to the masses about how to do lunch because if it was Jon she would presumably write, “To Jon, how to do lunch” or whatever. And for the coffee: If Jon made the coffee every day, why would there need to be a note on how to do it unless it was a different person or people doing it for her? Wouldn’t he have done it so many times that a recipe would be unnecessary? I make antioxidant green tea with lemon for my husband before work every day in the Winter and have never needed a cheat sheet to know how he likes it made.
Jen~
Exactly. Hubs makes me coffee everyday because he makes it better than I do in general. He drinks his with a bit of milk. Mine I drink half coffee and half skim milk and sweet. He seriously makes my cup better than I do on the ratios of coffee, milk and sugar. I would be the one needing the note to make my own coffee, not him
And once more the bitching about their privacy in that article but yet here they are doing almost an episode a week . Lots of privacy when you expose your foul behavior weekly for the entertainment of the masses. If privacy is so precious for Kate why does she not care if the kids never have it?
The article I haven’t seen for over a year is the one with the employer Jon had at the time Kate was put on bed rest at the hospital and like she did in the show called Jon when ever she couldn’t handle being on her own, so he’d have to run out and entertain her and due to theft of time and just plain not showing up he lost his job, but still had the audacity to write in to the paper claiming he was FIRED. That’s the one I’ve googled for and can’t seem to find cached anywhere.
not sure if you’ve heard this or not, was posted on foxnews today, regarding the octuplet mom…
TLC President Eileen O’Neill said production companies that work with TLC have already made offers to Suleman’s family, but the network is waiting to see how TV-friendly the family is.
“We’re certainly like the rest of America; we’re waiting to see how this develops,” O’Neill said. “The number of children or scale of the multiples is intriguing, but it also comes down to what are the family’s lives like?”
#29 I never saw that article but have heard of it. I heard it was in the Reading Eagle but I wasn’t able to find it. I’m curious about it as well.
Look at Bob Barr’s article about the OctoMom
http://www.ajc.com/services/content/opinion/stories/2009/02/04/barred0204.html
If Jon and Kate and their children are being made rich as a result of the shameless exploitation of their personal lives, why should an even more shameless unwed mother of 14 not be permitted to cash in? Is she not “entitled” to be rewarded for her efforts? Wouldn’t this be only “fair” in light of what she’s gone through?
Is not every function or activity imaginable, no matter how gross, potential fodder for a Guinness world record? Why not, therefore, highlight this latest “marvel” that is Suleman’s brood?
Whoops…wrong about the Reading Eagle. I just did a search and it was in the Patriot News. They have a searchable archive there, but to read individual articles there’s a registration/payment process that I didn’t investigate. If you do just a standard search of the term, “Gosselin” you get plenty of articles about them in reverse order. It’s so telling….the first ones you see are more recent, then ones when they were complaining about the nurse, and then the ones about volunteers and donations and finally ones about the birth. It’s sad when you see the change in tone, but it’s their own doing.
Denise~
Great minds think alike, or at least find the same articles, lol! I just made an entry on this!
I believe the John Grogan that wrote that article is the same John Grogan who wrote “Marley & Me”.
#31 Jen–RE:#29 and the reading eagle article and Jon’s boss.
I believe Jon was working for a hotel at the time and I do remember seeing the article and the boss was quoted saying something like, he just quit coming to work, (referring to Jon).
#29 thats what I heard as well. His employer asked for a retraction and Jon did so on the whole story. Now heres the thing with me Kate still tells that lie in her book.
You could always try emailing a writer or editor from those papers for a copy of the article, I am sure they have a copy somwhere. Or possibly they could put you in touch with the writer of the article, you can bet they have a copy of their work.
I am so tired of the sheeple who still think Kate is the cats meow. It doesnt even take an intelligent person to see what a fraud she is, and how negatively the show is impacting all eight kids and Jon. I am absolutely shocked that Figure8 and TLC have not told Kate to get help. People would watch the show and all would make more money if the lies would stop, Kate got help for herself, and Jon and the kids for the abuse they have endured, and people saw that the kids were being protected somehow. You would think TLC and FIGURE8 would see that their images are being negatively tarnished by this BITCH and her show. I cannot believe that seeing what all this has done to the Gosselin kids anyone is entertaining offering this CA family a show. For the love of the kids, fuck off and leave them alone! If they end up in foster/adopted homes it is probably for the best overall.

Here’s the myth/reality that bugs me the most because I’ve seen it on so many blogs lately: Myth – J&K are carving out their own careers and earning money that has nothing to do with the show.
Reality: THE KIDS ARE STILL ON TV!!! If you have these great careers then stop doing the show. Write a book that has NOTHING to do with the kids. Do an solo interview without making 8 squirmy kids sit for 4 hours in a tv studio. Oh but they can’t because the minute those adorable faces are out of the public spotlight, people will forget about them and no one will pay money to hear or read anything those two idiots have to say.
#37, if she is still putting that in the book (and I don’t know because I have not and will not buy it) then it would seem to me the employer has possible grounds for a libel suit. I wouldn’t dare repeat something like that which had already been challenged and requiring a retraction. Why would anyone do that and put themselves at legal risk unnecessarily? Plus, it’s just one more inconsistency that will never go away now and give fodder for people to talk about. If it is in the book, she’s not too bright.
When is the production crew goig to do a tell-all? I’ll buy that one. Con and Hate…she is so smarmy the way she puts down absolutely everything someone does for them or gives them, nothing is good enough for HRHiney. Pardon this. but what do you mean by webiste after the email address? I’m new at this. thanking you in advance
#37, to follow up….just thought of something. Wonder if the content, especially anything libelous, would put Beth at risk as the co-author of the book? Granted, she can only write what Kate tells her to though.
My favorite Jon lie this week. About his old garage, “I’ve never parked a car in here. I parked a car in here once.”
It’s a small thing, but, it shows they’re comfortable lying straight to our faces. We could all list a 1000 more lies..we only eat organic, I wrote the book, the kids never have junk food, we do it all ourselves, we always use coupons, we’re struggling financially, if the kids don’t want to be filmed they won’t be, on and on and on. There’s no end to the lies and no end to the ignorant little pubic hairs who believe them.
I’m still seeking where the issue about why Kate’s parents aren’t involved. I’ve read it had to do with some kind of falling out over church donations for the babies, but still cannot find where that story came from.
MYTH: Those that don’t fawn and coo are ‘jealous haters’
While I can’t state it as fact, although I am sure it is true, the ‘jealous hater’ moniker is simply the easiest way for the fawners and cooers to justify their position.
It would appear that many of the ‘love’ sites are over-populated by a somewhat younger target group than Jon claims for the show. 18-35? Let’s be more realistic. How about 12-25 or even 8-25? The “You’re just jealous” phraseology is high school clique-ness at it’s height.
Jealousy is defined as feeling resentment against someone because of their successes or advantages. Which bring a question:
What is it that J&K are successful at exactly? If the answer is ( & I believe it to be true ) they have been successful at selling and marketing their children to the extent that one can only think of the Dionne Quints when thinking of the Gosselin 6, who, with children would think that was worthy of jealousy? The nutcase Octomom would be in the minority.
Jealous of their advantages? Let’s see. They have a big new house. Well, did you know, people who work and hold down jobs ALSO have big new houses if they want them. I have traveled and lived all over the world and have never met a single person who thought having a big new house would somehow make their lives easier or better, unlike the G’s. But of course, the G’s justify it by saying “it’s for the kids”. Unfortunately we all know those kids have no say in anything that goes on in that family. We also know that J&K are master manipulators with their kids. We’ve seen it when the subject of day care was brought up and Kate described it to the kids as if they would be sent off to a torture chamber on a daily basis, barely seeing their parents ever again. Well, duh!!!
What kid is going to opt for that? If we are to believe what we see on the television (it’s our life, remember) the kids weren’t consulted at all. They were TOLD they were moving. There is no democracy in the house and with the kids the ages they are, there probably shouldn’t be. BUT, there certainly should be someone making decisions based on what IS truly best for the kids.
Which, in my mind, would have been getting rid of the extra people in my house and trying for some semblance of normalcy by cutting the umbilical cord which is TLC.
Jealousy? Of the fact that they can travel and buy second homes in other states? Again, working people do this ALL THE TIME!! It’s not rocket science people. It’s being responsible for yourself and your family. True, the average viewer is not apt to stay at the famed and expensive Peabody Hotel or is able to take weeks of vacation at a time, but I like to think most people who have a conscience and a sense of wanting to accomplish things on their own, could actually care less about the freebies the G’s receive.
What is it they are teaching and passing along to their 8 children? Sell to the highest bidder? Hold out your hand and it will come? It sounds to me like they are grooming 8 welfare cases instead of 8 productive members of society. And learning a work ethic? Hopefully they have paid attention to the camera and sound people in the house and the hard work they do. Otherwise, all may be lost.
In my book the myth of the ‘jealous haters’ is right up there at the top of the heap. It is nothing more than a smokescreen, thrown up by the fawners and cooers as a way to justify injustifiable behavior. The have no worthy argument so they have to lash out at the other side. I have no problem with them staying in their own space and fawning and cooing till the cows come home. Obviously though, even that gets old, so they continue to spend an inordinant amount of time discussing the people who disagree with them.
Really people! What is there exactly to be jealous of?
Yes, you are right about the hotel manager, that he said “Jon just quit coming to work”.
It would’ve been illegal for Jon to have been fired because of health insurance needs. So sorry, but that lie won’t fly at all.
Chrissy~
Exactly. I was “berated” by a member of one of my Cafe Mom debate groups for writing Kmart regarding recontracting Kate Gosselin as a spokesperson. She stated that Kate would do well with a line of housewares products for Kmart, and that it would offer Kate a LUCRATIVE (emphasis on lucrative) career in which to take care of her family. My argument was that Kate has not one creative bone in her body and I felt that it would be a shame for Kmart to pass by young designers and innovators who have spent years in school honing their craft for a mother that has done little more than have a lot of kids. I also questioned why it was so important that Kate have a LUCRATIVE anything since she has no talent.
I do hope that they have put enough money away for those children, and my position was if they could afford the new home that they did, then they have saved enough money while the getting was good, to live they rest of their lives well. And if they haven’t? Well, that will show what greedy fools they are and have been all along.

It is there for those posters that have a website or blog address, that will come up with their posts so others can follow the link.

And they love to keep perpetuating this lie in interviews and church speaking engagements. I mean these folks sit in houses of worship and lie.
Infreakincredible.
#37 and #41
I haven’t seen the book, but it would seem to me that whether it was libel would depend on what was written. For example if the phrase was actually “Jon was fired while I was pregnant” without explanation then that may be technically true. If the real story is that Jon tried to get health insurance and the employer said that the plan for workers requires some amount per person, then Jon’s insurance may have gone up and been too “high” in Jon’s opinion, so he just decided to stop coming into work. If he just stopped showing up for work then the employer probably did officially “fire Jon.” If it says that Jon was fired because the employer did not want to pay for more health insurance, then he may have a lawsuit if the statue of limitations isn’t gone and he suffered financial damages. But if I was the employer I’d settle for the retraction – no good comes from suing out of work parents of new born sextuplets. The publicity would be more negative and damaging than Jon’s inane statement. I’d of just said good riddance and moved on.
One of the myths that the Gosselins perpetuate is that they do it on their own–they never have.
When Kate was having the tups, her parents cared for the twins–there was an article in one of the local papers (Reading Eagle or Patriot News?) interviewing Charlene Kreider, Kate’s mom. She said something to the effect that her daughter had always wanted twins, and went beyond that. (This also contradicts Jon’s statement that the maternal grandparents have never been involved with their grandchildren.)
Jon’s father was involved –also financially according to some sources–before his death.
Let’s see– how many “helpers” (volunteer or paid) can be named from camera time alone?

Jenny
the “Nannies for Hire” girl
These are only people that I can remember from them being on-camera– I’m sure there’s more off-camera.
Also, what about the maid, cook, and others that have helped over the years?
–Also, there were volunteers who showed up daily after the tups were born (before they had the show)
And, let’s not forget the State-paid nurse that the Gosselins had until the tups were one year old (that they went to Harrisburg to ask for another year).
So much for doing it ALL on their own.
Karen here is the quote from her book:
“At eighteen weeks, I could barely bend over, and the strain of caring for the girls and me was taking its toll on Jon. To add to our mounting pile of stress, Jon was called into the office of the plant where he worked, accused of ’stealing time’ from the company, and given his pink slip. Six weeks previously, Jon had told his employers of the situation with the babies because, when the grace period for my insurance expired after I stopped working, the babies would be added to the health insurance plan provided through his company. The company was immediately concerned that their premiums would go through the roof. Although it was later intimated in a court hearing that the impending expenses of insurance for premature sextuplets was indeed a factor in Jon being fired, Jon still lost the hearing.”
From Multiple Blessings, page 50
Bet it was an unemployment benefits hearing but see how it reads kinda deceptive.
search for truth~
Since PA is an at will state anyway, yes, I am sure that it was at an unemployment benefit hearing, which he obviously lost. Kate and Jon twisted the entire thing to make it look like insurance benefits for 6 premature babies was the issue, which it was clearly not.
Jon stopped showing up for work, and that was why he was fired, as would most people that simply stop showing up for work.
Exactly phew I thought I was a dummy for a while on that one.
lisamarie said: Charlene Kreider, Kate’s mom. She said something to the effect that her daughter had always wanted twins, and went beyond that. (This also contradicts Jon’s statement that the maternal grandparents have never been involved with their grandchildren.)
It also to me, contradicts Kates’ statement that they wanted just one more. I honestly think they wanted twins again or maybe triplets. When they found out they were expecting 7 then 6 and Jon lost his job, they changed their comment, to appease public opinion.
Another Lie – that they were taking each of the kids out for a day with both parents. Of course, only the girls got that. Kate didn’t go on any of the boy’s dates.
According to the Reading Eagle archives
Jon did not LOSE his job.
Jon LEFT his job.
He came is less and less, then not at all.
Jon’s boss and former co-workers were pissed at the lies
he was spewing out.
Real mature behavior of a father of 2, soon to be of 8.
What a loser.
#57 Not to mention the comments made by Jon that they could not afford these day out trips when we now know alot of them were free well in exchange for advertising.
#53
Thanks for providing the statement. It is just this vague insinuation talk that irritates me about Jon and Kate. After reading that though it seems to me that whether the employer was concerned about higher insurance costs or whether Jon was concerned is moot. Jon “stole time”, as in stopped coming to work, ergo pink slip. If they were willing to go to a hearing about the pink slip seems to me they could have just as easily gone to a hearing over the insurance. (I know, I’m preaching to the choir here).
#56 I would have to agree with you since it states on their very own site that they knew that at least three eggs were there. Here is the statement
Just wondering if the fertility treatment you used was IUI. We went through the same and also IVF but were unsuccessful. Thanks.
Yes, we used IUI, which is very different from IVF. IUI is intrauterine insemination where you take meds, are monitored via ultrasound and then your husband’s contribution is placed via catheter. There are no eggs “removed” or “put back” as with IVF. So, we were truly unaware that there were 7 possible babies in there on the day that our procedure was done…or I can assure you, we would not have gone through with it!! (We were told that there were 3 with a possibility of 4 which was, by my doctor, considered excellent to proceed.)
Moon~ Here was an interesting post on another blog spot I read today. Have you read or heard anything about this?
This writer states that “The IRS has very specific tax rules for imputed income on the freebies they have been receiving, certain gift tax rules that I understand they (Gosselins) have ignored due to Kate believing she is above the law or that it doesn’t apply to them. The IRS is conducting an investigation and some people say a grand jury may be convened if a settlement is not reached.
She says to keep an eye open for signs this is coming.
I’ve tried to confirm but haven’t come up with anything yet.
julie~
I have not heard anything specific to the Gosselins, no. What blog was this? (email me).
thesweetestmoon@AOL.com – which is my email for Musings!

I wonder if you go directly to the IRS website if there will be info posted as to how the IRS deals with gift taxes for freebies. AND – how they expect you to report freebies and what happens to you if you do not report them and pay the appropriate taxes on them.
Also, I’d like to know why the Commonwealth of PA is not investigating the Greedslin’s finances back in 2004 when the tups were born. They had all that money in the bank and they got the state to pay for the nurse. This is fraud, isn’t it? I’d really like to see Kate and moron-ass sit in the slammer for a good long while. And as for the kids – they’d be very happy with Jodi and Kevin and their cousins and could go to school, play with their friends in the yard, ride bikes in private, etc. I know people on other blogs get upset when people mention KON being removed from their lives – but I think these two are so far gone, they are UNABLE to parent in any way, shape, or form. And Kate is abusive. Maybe jail time is what KON needs to straighten themselves out so they can attempt to be parents at some point down the road.

THIS IS PURE AND UTTER BULLSHIT! If this were true and Jon’s employer actually said this and fired him for this specific reason, the Greedslin’s could sue! As to the “hearing” Kate is referring to, I am sure she means an “unemployment hearing” where Jon tried to collect unemployment benefits. Well, you are NOT entitled to benefits if you resign or simply stop showing up for work (known as “job abandonment” in HR world). He did NOT get unemployment bens because he was not fired or laid off – he just didn’t bring his lazy ass to work anymore. This is another moron-ass lie. When, or when is the whole truth and nothing but the truth going to come out about these two?
Merette~
As of 2006, the IRS is including the Entertainment Industry and reminding celebrities that gifts and promotional giveways are considered taxable income. The value of the gifts must be reported on a celebrity’s tax return. That includes gift certificates or vouchers, if they have been redeemed.
Using those “coupons” may be more work than they are worth for Katie, Katie CouponLady !!
To expound on Merette and Search for Truth,
(from Kate’s “book”)
“Six weeks previously, Jon had told his employers of the situation with the babies because, when the grace period for my insurance expired after I stopped working, the babies would be added to the health insurance plan provided through his company. I live in Wisconsin which is also an “at will” state like PA. I used to work as a call center manager, so I had to attend many of these unemployment benefit hearings. That’s what you getn when you only pay folks a little bit above minimum wage. It is a slam dunk for the employer when an employee simply stops coming to work (job abandonment). Why should you pay someone for an honest day’s work when they are not coming into work at all? Most companies send letters to employees to advise them that they are being terminated for job abandonment if the employee has a valid address. So it’t not like it should have been a big surprise to him.
Those poor kids are working at all times to support the family “business” while these two yokels just mooch off of them. I just really feel for those kids. They clearly do not want to be on TV anymore. Just let them be kids. Jon and Kate, pony up and get real jobs like the rest of us. Yep, daycare is expensive, but lots of working families manage to do it.
I have been following this show for about 6 months. I get to see all the reruns on TLC and it is easy to see the changes in these parents and children. Kate has gotten nastier and more shrill and Jon is looking pretty unhappy. This seems really petty, but the moving show was the final straw for me. Kate yelled and screamed about a moldy old refrigerator in their new house, but completely trashed her old house as she was moving!! How can a person say they are ocd about cleanliness and then laugh about how great it is to move because you can just not care about leaving the old house a mess? The former owners of the new house left it in much better shape than those two idiots left their old house. I have decided that these two parents are just plain nuts. Even the show when they went to St. Jude’s hospital made me irritated. I realized it was all about promoting a movie about a mouse and their asinine book. Now I hear they are spokespeople for Kmart. Didn’t they buy presents for the children at Kmart? Those strong, courageous children and parents at the hospital are incredible role models for the rest of us — we don’t need the Gooselins to show us
who to admire. There is something about Jon and Kate that brings out irritation in me. I have NEVER felt this about a silly TV show! When will TLC cancel it and leave those two to actually figure out how to provide for their family like the rest of us. It’s true sometimes when ordinary people are put in extraordinary situations the worst comes out. And maybe that is why we are so fascinated by these two: they act so horrible to each other that we can’t understand why they have a tv show and why advertisers think they should be endorsing products that the rest of us should buy. Sociologists should be studying this.
Sue~
Actually I have heard when reading across the net that child development classes as well as psychology and sociology classes in both high school and university are using this show as a basis of discussion. And not for its merits (if there are any other than the children).
And yes, as Kate is a spokesperson for Kmart and Kmart is a supporter of St. Jude’s, they made one big ass commercial out of the giving to St. Jude’s, and incredibly enough, the commerical wasn’t even for St. Jude’s as it was for Kmart, a mouse movie and Beth Carson’s book. Oh, and Jon and Kate did not buy those gifts, Kmart did.
They are grifters and shysters – nothing more.
“Although it was later intimated in a court hearing that the impending expenses of insurance for premature sextuplets was indeed a factor in Jon being fired, Jon still lost the hearing.”
From Multiple Blessings, page 50
That sentence alone – can anyone possibly imagine from that that Kate actually wrote the book? There’s no way she could put together that kind of a sentence!
amyf~
She can’t string together a coherent written sentence to save her life.
While I do not think the writing of what I have read of that book (excerpts online mainly) is spectacular (it is drowning in metaphor…..eeeek!), Beth Carson clearly did a better job than Kate could ever do.
Thank goodness the authors of the bible wrote Kate’s next release, lol.
Um, I don’t think um, Kate can um, put a um, sentence together um, without um, help.
Everytime I hear her say um, it sounds like she is saying DUMB.
(and dumb, and dumb)
If Kate is as OCD as she claims she wouldn’t have left the old house a mess. I have found pictures of the old house since it was put on the market and there is stuff all in the laundry room, her notes still taped to the bathroom mirror and cups in the kitchen. If I was a person looking at that house I would not want to buy it just because of the way it looks. Who leaves their house a mess to sell. In addition to buying a new fidge for the new house, after she scrubbed for hours to get it clean, they probably wanted new washers and dryers as well since they left both almost new sets at the old house. Wish I could have money to blow like that.

I did not read this vile piece of lies and crap, but I am pretty sure that a Zondervan editor really created the final product. Beth may have fixed up Kate’s atrocious grmmar, syntax, and vocabulary, but I do not believe she really “wrote” the book either. I have seen other excerpts posted in other places, and frankly, that Zondervan editor can’t write either – even though it is VASTLY better than what dumb ass Kate could produce. Basically, the book was written for sheeples and, as we have all discussed before, the sheeples are typically those lacking intellectual sophistication (even if they may have an advanced degree) and card carrying members of the Double-Digit IQ Club.

Julie, thanks for the info. But my question is: is KON and their show considered part of the “Entertainment Industry” since it is a “reality show?” If it were a real show, then the kids would for sure be considered “working” and therefore all the laws that govern child actors would apply. So far, the Gosselins kids are not protected by these regulations and laws because they’re not in the entertainment industry (as I understand it). Or, is there, for IRS purposes, a loophole that classifies KON’s show as “entertainment industry” for tax purposes but not for other purposes governed by other entities to protect the kids as actors? We know Kate has gotten zillions of gift cards from all the major big box stores, monetary donations, and the usual range of freebies for years. I wonder if the IRS has jurisdiction over all this for the reasons I raised above. Does this make sense?
I have read on several blogs that Jon has been seen “hanging out” in Legends Sports Bar in Reading, PA. The most recent post came from Craig’s List. Go to “Craig’s List” click on PA, Reading, rants and raves, Jon and Kate.
With Her Royal Highness being gone so much and the marriage having turned into a “business partnership” as far as I can tell, this makes sense. Jon-boy better watch it. He could screw up his gravy train!
search for truth, Jon says that the maternal grandparents have never been involved? well lets see!! I believe it was them who kept Cara and Mady for the whole time Kate was in the hospital waiting for the tups to be born, I also believe Kate said the reason she wanted to stay at the RMH was b/c they had been staying with her parents after the birth, and she wanted Cara and Mady to get away and just be with her and Jon, I think the girls were getting to close to her parents , “too close for comfort”
Merette~
I have read a few posts in various places that is stating that, yes.
If true, who is watching the kids?
I agree Missy but according to Kate they do not know how to help them she is as stuffed with crap as a Christmas Goose lol.

Merette~
I have read a few posts in various places that is stating that, yes.

Moon, I am assuming the nannies and other “help” they have in infinite number that we never see. Jon said in the Utah interview that they have 4-6 hours of babysitting help per day. But coming from his lips, it’s a distortion at best and most like, a blatant lie. Given Jon and Take’s travel schedules, they have to have some sort of live-in person. I wonder if that’s what they use the 800 sq. ft. apartment above the three-car garage for – to house the nanny help.
To be honest, the first thing I thought of when I heard the rumor about Jon hanging out at the bars (sports bar?) wasn’t that he was cruising for chicks, but trying to make some male friends that would conveniently show up in future episodes.
#76 Merette~
I would think the answer would be “yes” they are part of the Entertainment Industry. They are a weekly show being supported by TLC, sponsors, brands, etc….just like any other weekly show. And, personally, they would be accountable to pay taxes on any gifts, donations, etc… they have received, just as we would. I don’t believe they are a tax exempt organization.
Jen~
LOL! Good theory, you could very well be right!
Julie~
Yeah, lol, the Greedslins – a 501(c)(3) corporation!
Bwahhahhhahha!
Moon,
Did you watch The Soup yesterday? Joel McHale was once again making fun of Kate from the moving episode.
I just love Joel.
Patty Ann~
I heard that. I have not seen a clip though. Is it up on his site, do you know?
Moon,
I didn’t see it on his sit yet, but it was funny. The Soup was making fun of Kate running her mouth about the “coupon” that Jon didn’t use. It also made fun of Kate “ordering” the moving men around. They also showed a gun being loaded, as a goof.
You can tell that Joel McHale doesn’t like Kate. But then again, who does?
Patty Ann~
Didn’t he call her “Katezilla”? It surely is a fitting title if I have ever heard one, lol
In terms of the IRS rules, remember when Richard Hatch spent time in prison for not claiming the freebies he got on survivor? There’s definately precedent there. Hope Con and Hate are documenting all those free coupons!
Oh, I can wait. One of the other blogs always misse the point of the Soup and Joel Mchale when he pinpoints K&K+8 and runs the clip. So, I’ll watch it when it is posted there!
Well, I saw J&K called out on both “The Dish” and “The Soup.” Somehow, I just don’t think pro-G sites will be linking to them any time soon.
I guess if you reach far enough you could say any publicity is good publicity. But mostly, I think those two should be ashamed and humiliated at their choice to allow such behavior to be shown on TV.
How little do you care about your family to demean yourselves in this way? Seriously, are you that afraid of working a 9-5 job that humiliation seems like a better choice, more lucrative? I can’t believe any parent would think their pre-teen girls wouldn’t hear some criticism at school about their crazy parents.
Sad, just sad.
In Jon’s Utah interview he said something about if we’re going to the park anyway we might as well be taped going to the park. I remember in one of the Q & A shows Kate saying something about the producers and her discuss what the want taped and how they are going to get it. Just another one of those can’t keep their stories straight.
erica~
This is true and they cannot keep their stories straight ever. They tell too many lies to be able to do so.
OMG. Is Jon really hanging out at Legends? Haha. Besides 22 year olds, the only other people that go there are creepy old men. Gross.
Does anyone know the link to the new ’soup’ clip about the coupon thing? I can not find it anywhere.
lisak~
I have not seen it around yet. I did look on Youtube, but the most recent that was there was The Soup’s snark on Christian Bale and his over-the-top rant.
Did anyone see the P & G coupon flyer in Sunday’s paper?
FAMILY SAVINGS TIPS by Kate Gosselin includes:
“Kids can make a difference too. Try products that help them use only what they need. Paper towels and toilet paper are a couple of good examples.”
Right. Like the half roll of towel she used wiping up the few drops of liquid in the moving episode?
amyf~
Yes, lol, as well as the toilet paper that they just said that the kids continually clog the toilet with because, you know, they can’t be bothered to help their children with their toileting.
kate & her ‘boyfriend’ are at home watching the kids…
If this is the same hateful self-righeous Merette that used to post in the Reading Eagle, this site has no credibility since she posts here.
She’s also full of crap. In PA, you can leave a job, with cause, and still collect UC. Dumb ass. I work for UC and know. Stop posting stuff you just make up that justifies your hatred of the Gosselins.
BTW, I think the Gosselins should sue you, I also think you should be watched carefully as a stalker. Slander and libel are crimes and you sure can’t stop yourself from doing both. BTW, I still think you need an education and that the criminal justice course you took is hilarious. Makes you an expert, I guess. Hilarious!
Momofonlyone, Yeah, you attended a seminar. Job abandonment was spoken about, possibly, but not at a level you could understand. I work in PA for UC and KNOW that you can leave your job WITH cause and still collect UC. It is done all the time. PA is very kind with their UC appeals and most employers do not even show at appeals as they lose. Heck, you can be fired for cause and still collect UC. People who call off sick repeatedly and are warned still collect UC. They do it because the cause of the firing was not WILLFUL.
So, y’all go right back to your I HATE THE GOSSELINS AND WILL POST NONSENSE JUST TO PROVE MY POINT. Just remember, don’t post made up stuff. If I were the Gosselins, I’d have most of you up on charges for stalking, libel and slander.

They are entitled to a hearing on cause. Jon lost his hearing. Jon lied. Jon and Kate have lied to millions of people regarding why he lost his job/s over and over and over again.
The question was not about AT WILL. Duh, that is another issue altogether. Don’t try to spread the confusion. It was whether he could receive UC while leaving his job. He can. It’s done all the time. Don’t give me any department of labor crap, I can out UC you anyday.
I was talking to Merette, not you, unless you and she share a body. I think Merette is mentally ill, perhaps it’s a case of multiple personalities.
There you go. You just committed libel. You said “Jon lied.”
The criminal justice course I referred to is the one that Merette said she took while posting on the Reading Eagle.
You know what I really like? I like that the Gosselins have enough money now to sue your pants off for hosting a hate forum filled with libel. Unless you can provide the protected UC appeal, you cannot or at least should not post something you know nothing about. That’s slander and libel. You’ve stated that Jon lied on his appeal. Do you have Jon Gosselin’s UC appeal in front of you? How can you say he lied? You are sick twisted busy bodies. Forget the crime part, I’d go after you civilly. Now that is just childish.
You said Jon lied to get UC, you also said it was impossible for him to get it and tried to muddle the conversation with AT WILL bull. Not a nice try. People leave their employment on their own will all the time and get UC.

Jon was stupid enough to try and fight it when he was at fault, instead of manning up and going to find another job. Jon had a hearing. Jon lost. There isn’t much more to discuss is there? BTW, why are you taking up the PA and Berks County tax payer money by blogging while on the job? You know, since you work for Berks County Government as you IP indicates.
